Sow indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth, 15-18°C and keep moist. Cover the tray with cling film but remove as soon as seedlings begin to emerge.
Grow on
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost.
Harden off/plant out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when danger of frost has passed. Allow 90cm between plants.
Advice
This seed is tiny and needs handling with care to avoid crushing. For extra protection and ease of sowing it is pelleted and filled into a fine seed sower.
