Parsnip Seeds ‘Albion’ F1
- Long smooth white roots
- Extra sweet flavour and good texture
- Disease-resistant
- RHS Award of Garden Merit
Award-winning Parsnip ‘Albion’ is one of the best, producing long smooth white roots with great texture and a delicious sweet flavour. Specially bred for good canker resistance, it’s a good choice for organic growers. The long white roots store well without discolouring.
Sow outdoors
Sow seeds fairly thickly in pre-watered shallow rows, covering with a little soil. Allow about 40cm (16in) between rows. Delay early sowings if soil is very wet or cold, later sowings will make up any lost time.
Thin
As seedlings develop, thin them gradually, eventually to about 15cm (6in) apart. Keep soil moist until seedlings are established.
Tips
Harvest September – February. Roots can be left in the ground until required. We believe their flavour improves after autumn frosts.
Special note
Avoid bare skin contact with leaves in summer. Wash skin after contact. Parsnips grow best in well dug, stone free soil which has not recently been manured. Always buy parsnip seeds fresh each year as it does not store well once the soil sachet has been opened. Parsnips can take up to 3 weeks to germinate.
