Chamomile Plant ‘For Lawns Treneague’
- Apple-scented foliage
- Forms a low, spreading mat of evergreen foliage
- An attractive alternative to traditional lawns
- Non-flowering variety
Releasing a delicious apple scent when crushed, low-growing Chamomile ‘Treneague’ makes a charming alternative to traditional grass lawns in sunny areas with low footfall. The dense, feathery evergreen foliage is a superb weed suppressant.
Chamomile ‘Treneague’ spreads gradually to form a low mat of foliage approximately 10cm high, with no flowers, and needs just an occasional trim with a lawn mower or shears in late summer to keep it neat.

Planting tips and hints:
Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy mix in a soil improver before backfilling. Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly. When planting in containers, use a good multi-purpose compost.
To create a chamomile lawn, weed the area thoroughly before planting. Space plants approximately 10cm apart. Water regularly after planting and do not walk over the area for at least 12 weeks. Chamomile lawns will not tolerate regular foot traffic. Trim in late summer if necessary.
