The tall shuttlecock-like ‘King of the Male Ferns’ really cuts a dash, whether it’s in a shady spot or part of a border that enjoys full sunlight. It can also be grown in large pots. It’s almost evergreen, which means it looks good throughout much of the year. Team it with other shade lovers, such as hostas, or use as an accent in a brighter spot. Cut back any dead fronds in winter to encourage new ones to appear. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
