Leucanthemum Seeds ‘Madonna’
- Masses of cheery daisy flowers over many weeks
- Compact and especially attractive in pots
- Also for planting in a sunny border, where it will flower into autumn
Sowing Indoors
Level fill a module seed tray firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds thinly and cover with a thin layer of fine compost or vermiculite. Leave in a warm room, around 20°C and keep moist.
Growing On
Once the seeds have germinated they can be moved to a slightly cooler spot (10-15°C). When large enough to handle, transplant individually to 8cm pots of potting compost.
Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when danger of frost has passed. Allow 25cm between plants if planting into the garden. Alternatively, plant into a patio container, minimum 30cm diameter. Leucanthemums like a sunny spot, in well-drained soil. Water well in dry weather, especially while establishing.
Advice
Early sowings will flower the same year; later sowings will bloom earlier the following year.
