Perpetual strawberry ‘Grandian’ keeps on going all through summer, producing big red fruits with a deliciously sweet flavour. It will fruit in its first year from an early sowing.
Sow indoors
Sow seeds on the surface of a tray of moist seed compost and cover with a thin layer of vermiculite. Cover with glass or polythene and place in 18-22°C until seeds germinate in about 4-6 weeks.
Grow on
Prick out seedlings when large enough to handle into 7cm (3in)pots and grow on under glass.
Harden off/plant out
Grow on in cool conditions until frosts have passed and the plants are large enough to be planted outdoors. Companion planting with marigolds or spinach will assist with deterring pests.
